Static Cling

At Reimagines, we love static clings!  In fact, we love them so much that we used them for our storefront signage.  Static clings are so versatile and forgiving, they are a great way to customize your space.  Whether you are at an office like us, at school, or at home, our custom static clings are a great way to dress up your space.

Probably the best thing about static clings is their versatility.  They will cling to almost any smooth surface (link application instructions).  Our customers use their custom static clings on whiteboards at the office or in the classroom, for signage or decoration on glass, on filing cabinets, and for many other uses.

We have both clear and white static cling material.  The clear static cling is semi-transparent and gives almost a stained-glass effect.  That is the material we used for our office signage.  The white static cling is great for vibrant colors that really pop.  If you have any questions about which material would be best for your custom static cling, send us a message.  We love working with our customers to get just the right cling for their application.

Applying static cling is easy!

First, clean the surface.  It is important to start with a clean surface in order for the static cling to adhere well.  Static clings will stick to glass, smooth metal or plastics, or sometimes even smooth painted surfaces, all without leaving any adhesive residue. An ordinary glass cleaner will give you a clean surface in most instances.  Sometimes smooth plastics or metals need to be cleaned with rubbing alcohol to remove oil on the surface.  Be sure your surface is clean and dry before the next step.

Next, decide how you would like to position the cling.  Using masking tape to lay out the outline of the cling can be helpful in positioning the cling and ensuring that it is straight.

Then, apply your static cling.  You can apply the static cling dry if it is smaller than 12” by 12” or so.  If it is larger than that, you will need to use water to apply the cling.  If you are applying the cling to a dry surface, begin at the top and work your way down the cling using a squeegee to smooth the cling and press out bubbles.  If you are applying the cling to a moistened surface, work from the center of the cling outward.  It is best to use a felt-edged squeegee, but if you don’t have one you can put smooth masking tape over the edge of your hard squeegee to prevent scratching the surface of your cling.

If you aren’t satisfied with your results, take the cling off and start over.  Static cling is very forgiving.  Just take care not to scratch or stretch your cling while applying.

Finally, enjoy the results!  Static clings can be removed and repositioned multiple times.  If you want to remove your static cling to use again later, store it in a cool, dry place and protect it from dust.
