How to Store Anchor Charts and Whiteboard Clings Between Units
By Elizabeth Schroer, Founder of Reimagines · October 2026
It's that time of year. Your first units are wrapping up, your whiteboard is full, and the next unit is already waiting. If taking a display down usually means peeling tape, scraping residue, and stuffing bent laminated cards into a ziploc bag, this one's for you.
I taught middle and high school business for five years, and I remember how much of my planning time went to making, hanging, and storing visuals. Here is the simple way I clear a whiteboard and store everything flat, so it's ready to go back up next unit or next year.
Why classroom displays are so hard to store
Most classroom visuals were never designed to come down. Anchor chart paper tears and creases. Laminated cards curl, and the tape or putty that held them up leaves marks behind. Magnets don't work on many classroom whiteboards because so many are non-magnetic. So the pieces end up rolled in a closet, clipped together, or tucked into bags where corners bend and small pieces go missing.
When you finally pull a unit back out, you're often reprinting or relaminating before you can teach with it again. That's the part we wanted to fix.
A better option: whiteboard clings that store flat
Whiteboard clings are not stickers. They're made from a durable, flexible static cling material that holds to a clean whiteboard without any adhesive, so there is no residue when you take them down. They were originally designed for non-magnetic whiteboards (inspired by my mom's classroom board), and they also cling to glass, windows, and acrylic.
Every set is designed and printed in-house by our family business on professional equipment with high-quality inks and materials. Because the material is reusable, a display can stay up all year, or come down and be stored until the next unit.
How to store whiteboard clings in three steps
Peel
Lift each cling straight off the whiteboard, starting at a corner. No tape to scrape and nothing sticky left behind.
Smooth
Lay each piece onto an 8.5x14" Binder Ready sheet and smooth it flat with your hand so it holds in place.
Store
Slide the hole-punched sheets into a legal-size three-ring binder. Your whole unit stays together, flat, and protected.
When it's time to teach that unit again, peel each piece off the sheet and cling it right back on the board. It takes just a few minutes.

How I set it up
I have several new products in the works, so I needed to clear my whiteboard to make room for new displays. It was covered with our Engineering Design Process and CER Science Framework sets.
My mom is a middle school special education teacher, and she's always happy to take my samples and share them. So instead of piling everything into a box, I put each set on Binder Ready sheets. That made them easy to store, easy to hand off, and easy for her to put up in her own classroom.
Here's what I did, step by step:
- One set at a time. I peeled the gears and sticky-note prompts from the Engineering Design Process display first, so the pieces stayed together.
- Big pieces in sections. Larger displays, like our CER test tube, are made in sections that each fit on a sheet. I smoothed the top of the test tube and the "Claim" section onto one sheet, then kept going.
- Into the binder. Every finished sheet went straight into a legal-size binder, so nothing got bent or lost.
- Quick check. Peeling a piece back off the sheet shows it's ready to go right back on a board.
A little note from one teacher to another: you could do the same thing for a teammate, a long-term sub, or your future self next August. A labeled binder is much easier to hand off than a bag of loose pieces.
Tips for switching units
- Use one binder for each subject or quarter. Add tabs for each unit so you can grab exactly what you need.
- Store pieces in teaching order. Put the header and first steps on the top sheet, so setup takes minutes next time.
- Keep the frameworks you use all year on the board. Rotate only the unit-specific displays, like the Scientific Method during a lab unit.
- Write next to your clings, not on them. Dry-erase markers can remove the printed ink, so model sentence stems or examples under or beside each cling.
- No Binder Ready sheets? Smooth your clings back onto the backing paper they shipped on.
Which clings are Binder Ready?
Any design that fits on an 8.5x14" sheet can be ordered Binder Ready. Just choose "Binder Ready" on the product page before you add a set to your cart, and your clings will arrive cut to size and hole-punched for a legal-size three-ring binder. On the science sets below, it's a $1 add-on. A few sets that are easy to store between science units:

Frequently asked questions
How do teachers store anchor charts in the classroom?
Paper anchor charts are usually rolled, hung on hangers, or kept in a large bin. Whiteboard clings are easier because they store flat: peel them off the board, smooth them onto 8.5x14" Binder Ready sheets, and keep them in a legal-size three-ring binder.
Will my clings still stick after they've been stored?
Yes. Static cling holds best to a clean, dust-free board, since dust, oil, and greasy cleaners interfere with the grip. Before you reapply a set, wipe your board with vinegar and water. If a cling has picked up dust, rinse the back to restore its grip.
Do whiteboard clings leave residue?
No. There is no adhesive, so there's nothing sticky left on your whiteboard, glass, or acrylic when you take them down.
What size binder do I need for Binder Ready sheets?
Binder Ready sheets are 8.5x14" and hole-punched, so they fit a legal-size three-ring binder.
Can I get custom colors or a custom design?
Yes. For custom designs or color matching, email elizabeth@reimagines.com.
No printing, cutting or laminating! Just peel, cling and teach.
Keep it up all year, or store it in your binder until next unit.
