TEA History & Social Studies Framework Display | Thesis Evidence Analysis Whiteboard Clings

Give your social studies students a clear, repeatable framework for analyzing historical events and crafting compelling, evidence-based arguments.

Writing in history and social studies requires more than just listing dates and facts. Students must take a clear stance, back it up with primary or secondary sources, and explain how that evidence proves their historical point. The TEA History & Social Studies Framework Whiteboard Display provides a high-visibility, interactive reference system that brings this essential analytical writing process directly to your dry-erase board.

By breaking historical responses into three manageable steps, Thesis, Evidence, and Analysis, students gain a reliable blueprint for tackling Document-Based Questions (DBQs), short-answer responses, constructed response prompts, and essay outlines. Use this display during DBQ prep, primary source deep dives, class debates, or daily writing warm-ups to build confident, independent historical thinkers.

This modular static cling system is designed to flexibly adapt to your classroom routines. Use the core T-E-A letter icons as a simple visual anchor, add the definition clings for explicit student guidance, or include speech bubble sentence starters to help students confidently begin constructing their historical arguments.

Why Teachers Love It

  • Builds Historical Thinking: Provides students with a consistent framework for moving beyond rote memorization and toward constructing well-reasoned historical arguments.

  • Premium Static Grip Technology: Holds firmly to your whiteboard or classroom glass without adhesive.
  • Zero Prep Time: Ditch the late-night printing, tedious cutting, and heavy laminating sheets. This professional writing system arrives perfectly pre-cut, and ready to apply.

The TEA Framework Breakdown

This comprehensive social studies writing system guides students through the three essential parts of a historical argument:

T – Thesis

What do you think?

Answer the question in a clear, one-sentence statement. A thesis is the student's primary point or central claim based on the historical prompt, topic, or source being analyzed.

E – Evidence

What did you find?

Use information from the reading, text evidence, supporting work, etc. Evidence provides the specific historical facts, primary source quotes, statistics, or observations that support the thesis.

A – Analysis

Why does it matter?

Summarize your claim and evidence. Explain HOW the evidence supports your claim. Analysis connects the historical evidence back to the thesis by explaining the deeper historical context, cause and effect, or significance.

Package Configurations (Choose Your Option)

  • TEA Letter Set (3 Clings): Displays the strategy letters along with their core component words: Thesis, Evidence, or Analysis. This option is perfect for teachers who want a clean, aesthetic visual anchor for their social studies classroom or who already have their own instructional language for DBQ prep.
  • TEA Letters and Definitions Clings Set: Includes the 3 TEA letter icons plus 3 matching definition clings to place directly alongside them. The definition clings provide explicit student-friendly prompts for each step:
    • Thesis: What do you think? Answer the question in a clear, one-sentence statement.
    • Evidence: What did you find? Use information from the reading, text evidence, supporting work, etc.
