Static cling 101

New to static cling?

Static cling is a durable, flexible material that holds to whiteboards, glass, windows, and acrylic without any adhesive. Here's what teachers ask most:

Not a sticker

No glue or adhesive. It holds to smooth surfaces on its own.

Removable

Peels off in seconds and leaves no residue behind.

Reusable and durable

Designed and printed in-house by our family business on professional equipment with high-quality inks and materials. Made to reuse year after year.

Customizable

Many designs come in your choice of colors and fonts, and I take custom requests.

In the box

What's included

  • CER test tube (five clings): C for claim, E for evidence, and R for reasoning, in Bright Minds colors. Just under 30" tall and 9" wide when applied.
  • Optional definition clings (+$18): three clings that read "What do you think?", "What did you find?", and "Why does it matter?" Each is about 7.5" wide and 4" to 6" tall, depending on the definition.
  • Optional sentence starter speech bubbles (+$10): three bubbles, one for each step, with three ways to begin. Each is about 10" wide and 4" tall.
  • Optional Binder Ready sheets (+$1) for storage between units.

The framework

Claim, evidence, reasoning, step by step

CClaim

What do you think?

Answer the question in a clear, one-sentence statement.
Starters: I claim that... / The answer is... / Based on the investigation...

EEvidence

What did you find?

Use information from experiments, data, observations, and text to support your claim.
Starters: According to the data... / The investigation showed... / The text states...

RReasoning

Why does it matter?

The rule or scientific principle that explains why and how the evidence supports the claim.
Starters: This supports my claim... / The evidence shows... / The scientific principle is...

The teacher hack

Why teachers love it

  • Makes thinking visible. Students see every step of a scientific explanation, not just the answer.
  • Builds independence. Definitions and sentence starters help students get started without waiting for you.
  • Matches your classroom. Bright Minds colors and your choice of 34 fonts and three text colors.
  • Ready the day it arrives. No designing, printing, laminating, cutting, or magnets.

In your classroom

How to use it

  • Keep it up all year as your science anchor chart for labs, investigations, and data analysis.
  • Model a CER response together, writing the class's claim, evidence, and reasoning next to each step.
  • Point students to it for science notebooks, lab reports, and constructed-response questions.

Peel, cling, teach

How it works

1

Clean. Start with a clean, dust-free whiteboard.

2

Peel and cling. Peel the cling off its backing and place it on your board. Reposition it anytime.

3

Store. Put it back on its backing paper or Binder Ready sheet until the next unit.

Ordering notes

Choose your font (34 options) and text color (black, white, or a coordinating color). Then decide whether to add the definition clings and the sentence starter speech bubbles. Want everything in one ready-to-ship set? See the Reimagines Ready CER Science Framework Clings.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Will it stick to my whiteboard?

Yes. Static cling holds to whiteboards with no adhesive. For the best hold, make sure your board is clean and dust-free. Dust, dirt, and oil can keep a cling from sticking, and some greasy whiteboard cleaners leave a residue that does the same. If needed, clean your board with a mix of vinegar and water to break down the oil. If a cling loses its grip over time, rinse the back with water and apply it again.

Does it work on non-magnetic boards or glass?

Yes. Reimagines clings were originally designed for non-magnetic whiteboards. My mom didn't have a magnetic whiteboard when I started the business, and her classroom was my inspiration. Clings also hold to glass, windows, and acrylic.

Can I write on it with a dry-erase marker?

Please don't. Markers can remove the printed ink on a cling. Many of our designs are made so you can write underneath or next to them instead.

Will it leave residue on my board?

No. There's no adhesive, so nothing is left behind. Your board is just as clean when you remove the cling as it was when you applied it.

How do I store my clings?

Store your clings on the backing paper they ship on. Many products offer a Binder Ready option: your clings ship on 8.5x14" hole-punched backing sheets, ready to store in a legal-size three-ring binder.

Can I get a custom design or color match?

Yes. I design and print every product myself. Email elizabeth@reimagines.com with custom design requests or color matching.

A good display to use as a whiteboard teaching tool. It fits to one side of the whiteboard so I can write whole group examples to the right of it for student reference.
