Static cling 101

New to static cling?

Static cling is a durable, flexible material that holds to whiteboards, glass, windows, and acrylic without any adhesive. Here's what teachers ask most:

Not a sticker

No glue or adhesive. It holds to smooth surfaces on its own.

Removable

Peels off in seconds and leaves no residue behind.

Reusable and durable

Designed and printed in-house by our family business on professional equipment with high-quality inks and materials. Made to reuse year after year.

Customizable

Many designs come in your choice of colors and fonts, and I take custom requests.

In the box

What's included

  • Math CER pencil: a Math CER header, then Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning sections with student prompts for each step, finished with a pencil tip. 13.2" tall and 7.3" wide when applied.
  • Optional sentence starter note clings (+$5): three clings styled like sticky notes, one for each step. Each is 5.3" wide and 5.3" tall.
  • Your look: the Earth Tones colors, 34 fonts, and black, white, or coordinating text.
  • Optional Binder Ready sheets (+$1) so your pieces store flat in a legal-size three-ring binder.

The framework

Claim, evidence, reasoning for math, step by step

CClaim

What is the answer?

Restate the question in a complete sentence. Include math context: what are you solving?
Starters: I claim that... / The answer is... because... / ...is the correct solution.

EEvidence

How did you do the math?

Explain with words, numbers, and symbols. Use step-by-step math concepts and vocabulary, and answer multiple parts separately.
Starters: I solved this by... / The steps I used were: first... next... and finally... / Using the formula... I found...

RReasoning

Why does the math prove your answer?

Connect the evidence to the claim using math vocabulary.
Starters: My answer is correct because... / The answer makes sense because... / This shows that...

The teacher hack

Why teachers love it

  • Makes math thinking visible. Students show how they know an answer is right, not just what the answer is.
  • Gets every student started. Prompts on the pencil, plus the optional sentence starters, give students the words to begin a written math explanation on their own.
  • Fits where you need it. At 13.2" tall, the pencil fits along the side of your board and leaves room for the problem of the day.
  • Matches your room. Coordinates with your other Earth Tones clings, in the font you choose.

In your classroom

How to use it

  • Post it beside your problem of the day and model a full CER response together, writing the class's claim, evidence, and reasoning next to each section.
  • Point students to it for constructed-response and open-ended questions, test prep, and "explain your answer" problems from upper elementary through high school.
  • Pair it with the same CER framework in science and ELA so students use one way of explaining their thinking across subjects.

Peel, cling, teach

How it works

1

Clean. Start with a clean, dust-free whiteboard.

2

Peel and cling. Peel the cling off its backing and place it on your board. Reposition it anytime.

3

Store. Put it back on its backing paper or Binder Ready sheet until the next unit.

Ordering notes

Choose a font (34 options) and black, white, or coordinating text, then decide whether to add the sentence starter clings. Want it ready to ship with the sentence starters included? The Reimagines Ready CER Math Framework Clings are $36.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Will it stick to my whiteboard?

Yes. Static cling holds to whiteboards with no adhesive. For the best hold, make sure your board is clean and dust-free. Dust, dirt, and oil can keep a cling from sticking, and some greasy whiteboard cleaners leave a residue that does the same. If needed, clean your board with a mix of vinegar and water to break down the oil. If a cling loses its grip over time, rinse the back with water and apply it again.

Does it work on non-magnetic boards or glass?

Yes. Reimagines clings were originally designed for non-magnetic whiteboards. My mom didn't have a magnetic whiteboard when I started the business, and her classroom was my inspiration. Clings also hold to glass, windows, and acrylic.

Can I write on it with a dry-erase marker?

Please don't. Markers can remove the printed ink on a cling. Many of our designs are made so you can write underneath or next to them instead.

Will it leave residue on my board?

No. There's no adhesive, so nothing is left behind. Your board is just as clean when you remove the cling as it was when you applied it.

How do I store my clings?

Store your clings on the backing paper they ship on. Many products offer a Binder Ready option: your clings ship on 8.5x14" hole-punched backing sheets, ready to store in a legal-size three-ring binder.

Can I get a custom design or color match?

Yes. I design and print every product myself. Email elizabeth@reimagines.com with custom design requests or color matching.

What grades is it for?

The Math CER pencil is designed for upper elementary, middle, and high school math classrooms. The prompts work for any problem where students need to explain or justify an answer.

Are the sentence starters included?

They're an optional add-on for $5. Choose "yes" when you order to add all three sentence starter note clings. The Reimagines Ready version includes them.

How big is it?

The assembled pencil is 13.2" tall and 7.3" wide. Each sentence starter note is 5.3" square. It fits comfortably on a standard 4x6' whiteboard with plenty of room to work.
